So I have decided to start a blog about my 1973 Chevy G30 Open Road Class B Camper Van. You might be wondering why I would write about a seemingly ugly orange 70's van that you would undoubtedly report to the police if seen in your area for fear of a child molester. Well, my nickname is Nester, but I am not a child molester and this van has literally changed my lifestyle and taught me invaluable lessons in auto mechanics. My buddy Ben put it best when he referred to Class B vans as "Lifestyle Changers". Now, I know this may sound like an exaggeration but when camping and outdoor recreation is at the heart of your lifestyle, these style vans really open doors! This is especially true when living in the Pacific Northwest where it rains 8 months out of the year. I know, I know. You might be thinking "Man, only pussies camp in RVs" or "If your not in a tent then your not camping". Well, I have spent many great years, wet nights, cold nights, and sore muscles braving the elements in my two person Walrus mountaineering tent and scoffing at RVs. So, laugh if you want, but keep an open mind and follow my blog, you just might find yourself saying "That thing is pretty cool!". Now, I have owned this van for a couple years and already been through a lot of good times and will do my best to post places I have been and things that I have done thus far to catch you up to speed. I will also explain modifications, pictures, and technical aspects my van as well.
Thanks for checking out my blog and stay tuned to learn more about my Class B Experiences with The Open Road!
We drove our Open Road to Alaska and lived in it for a summer. could not have afforded to move North any other way.
